Hello there reader,
Hello there friend,
Have you heard the story of little Prince Ben?
Through the window,
into the night sky,
Pass the moon,
way up high,
If you look closely,
you can spy,
and see a great many things,
with your telescopic eye.
At a land not so far away,
where the stars dance and come to play,
There a planet lay,
near the milky way.
That’s his castle!
made of clay,
sweets for pillars,
and roof of hay.
Little Prince Ben,
he lives on the third floor,
because on this floor,
nothings a bore.
Its full of toys!
That little boys enjoy,
with many wings and wheels,
big building blocks,
and multicolored rocks.
He's even got socks!
for sock puppet shows,
and a little maestro,
that sings Figaro.
He’s got hooters and tooters,
and many noise makers,
that hum and drum,
with a musical charm.
Little Prince Ben had everything,
and could do anything,
Except this one thing,
Which left him questioning.
For there is a door,
on his floor,
which he was told to ignore since he was four.
so he was very curious what it was for.
Never to open,
Never to peek,
But it was beyond this door,
That he started to seek.
So he pushed and pushed,
with all his strength,
and mind you,
it was an effort of great length.
The door squeaked and creaked,
but it wouldn’t budge,
so the prince rested,
and ate some fudge.
With new vigor and might,
and his teeth grit real tight,
he pushed again,
with great strain.
Then suddenly with one big heave,
the door swung open!
which caused little prince to fumble,
fall and stumble outside.
What is this place?
The Prince could not believe,
That beyond the door,
Where things he had never seen before,
This new place had a very green soft floor,
“Nice carpet””, he said,
So he decided to explore,
This new outdoors,
For he had only been indoors,
In his castle galore.
He walked through a meadow,
And stopped to admire a rainbow,
He didn’t really stop much though,
Until to his surprise, he heard someone say “hello”
It was a little boy,
Who greeted him,
He wore tattered clothes,
Leaving much exposed,
And approached little prince Ben,
Very much composed.
In great interest,
The little prince asked,
“Where are you from?”
“And how did you come?”
“And why do your clothes look very glum?”
The little boy only smiled
and pointed to the wild
He lives on the other side you see
Past the big tall tree
So the little boy said
Come follow me
And you will see
many more who are just like you and me
So off they went,
Into the forest,
and past the big tall tree,
and up a slope that was steep to some degree.
Soon they reached the town,
Where the little boy came down,
and there Little Prince Ben found,
that his face started to frown.
There was no life,
No breeze in the air,
There was no colour to be seen anywhere,
The sky was dark,
And there was no spark,
Even the dogs had lost their bark.
The only people who lived here,
were the children of the town,
They all of them seemed down,
And came out without a frown.
They lived alone,
with no home,
They had no food,
which dampened their mood.
They had nothing to play with,
Nothing to do,
Except stare at a clock,
That said half past two.
Little prince Ben started to tear at their despair,
He knew that this was very unfair,
He felt like he was living in a nightmare,
And decided,
that this was something he wanted to repair.
He wanted to make things better,
better for them,
He wanted to give,
and he wanted to share,
To fill them with happiness,
and take away their sadness,
For they were on the brink of madness.
So he invited them to his castle,
But they were reluctant for they feared they would be a hassle,
Or end up like Hansel and Gretel.
“Rest assured,”
The Prince insisted,
“There’s no need to worry,””
He persisted.
So they all followed him,
Down the slope,
and into the forest,
Past the big tree,
as tall as can be,
Into the meadow,
Where the breeze started to blow,
Then through the magical door ,
which connected to his floor.
The children looked around,
in amusement and splendor,
And soon everyone was running around,
and playing together.
They were given toys to enjoy,
With many wings and wheels,
Big building blocks,
and multi coloured rocks.
All of took a sock puppet,
And starred in the sock puppet show,
And heard the maestro,
Singing Figaro.
They played with the hooters that hoot,
and the tooters that toot,
And together they played a hoot-aloot-toot,
Everyone was having fun,
as they hummed and drummed,
They were all creating a musical charm.
Little prince Ben was very happy indeed,
To share and give his toys with no greed,
It filled his heart with so much grace,
To see the smiles on everyone’s face.
But soon it was time to go,
For the sun was hanging low,
Bedtime was creeping near,
So Little Prince Ben gave everyone a souvenir.
He gave each and everyone a toy,
that little children enjoy,
and some of his building blocks,
and multi-coloured rocks.
He led his new friends to the magic door,
And said, “Please come back for more!”
He was sad to see them go,
and the children likewise, to their generous hero.
So this is where the children said “good bye!”
They gave the Prince a hug and tried no to cry
“We’ll come to visit you again!”
“Even if it may rain!””
So this the story of Little Prince Ben,
Who gave his toys away since the age of ten,
For it filled his heart with so much grace,
To see the smile on every child’s face,
For now they could play to their hearts content,
And give life their one hundred percent.
So dear reader and dear friend,
Always remember to give and to share,
Even if it was your favorite bear,
So always help others with your kindness,
It will fill your heart with much gladness,
Through this you will find much happiness,
and take away all your sadness.
So, good-bye dear reader,
Good-bye dear friend,
I hope you enjoyed the story of Little Prince Ben!
